A flamethrower is a mechanical incendiary device designed to project a long, controllable stream of fire.

Plot

Despicable Me 2

• The flamethrower is one of Lucy's weapons. Her sole use of it is to block Gru's attempt to freeze her using his Freeze Ray. It has a very hi-tech, compact design befitting a member of the Anti-Villain League.

• Gru uses a more traditional style of flamethrower to melt his telephone when he gets frustrated practicing how he plans on asking Lucy out on a date.

• El Macho utilizes a flamethrower booby trap as a security measure leading into his secret lair.

• Despite that many promotional images show her wield the flamethrower next to Gru with his Freeze Ray. A larger older looking flamethrower is used by Gru in his frustration at being unable to call Lucy to ask her on a date.
